‘No crossover’ rule could affect candidates’ plans

By: Magnolia Tribune - March 15, 2008

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, 3/14/8

If 1st Congressional District voters plan to vote in the April 1 runoff elections, they must do so for the same party they chose March 11.

It’s Mississippi election law – the two votes are considered one election, and folks can’t change parties in midstream.

That may be a problem for a sizable number of Republicans who voted in the Democratic primary.

National political observers, who conduct exit polls, said 12-13 percent of the Democratic primary’s voters described themselves as Republicans.
