Sen. Nolan Mettetal of Sardis told The Clarion-Ledger this morning he is switching his political affiliation to the Republican Party.
Mettetal, who first won the Senate seat in 1996, said conservatives were “no longer welcome in the Democratic party.”
Mettetal’s decision narrows the gap between Democrats and Republicans in the Senate to 27-25.
