A spokesperson with the Mississippi Attorney General’s office tells us Jim Hood has replied to the State Supreme Court about Governor Haley Barbour’s appeal. The Governor is appealing a Hinds County judge’s decision to have the state’s special election held in March, not November. The special election is needed so voters can elect a permanent replacement for Trent Lott’s senate seat. Governor Barbour has until 5:00pm Tuesday to reply to Hood’s comments. The Supreme Court is expected to rule on the Governor’s appeal by Friday. Governor Barbour wants the special election to coincide with the General Election, November 4th.
