Taxpayers may not have to foot $500,000 this year for lawmakers’ salaries, mileage and other costs incurred by the regular legislative session.
On Wednesday, the Mississippi Senate agreed without any objections to shorten the 125-day session by 21 days.
The proposal could face trouble in the unpredictable House, where state representatives said the issue could be taken up by the end of the week.
