Hinds County Circuit Judge Bobby DeLaughter is among those expected to appear this week before a federal grand jury investigating lawyer Dickie Scruggs and others.
That grand jury begins meeting today in Oxford.
On Nov. 28, the grand jury indicted Scruggs, one of Mississippi’s best-known lawyers, his son, Zach, both of Oxford, law partner Sidney Backstrom and former state Auditor Steve Patterson.
All have pleaded not guilty to judicial bribery charges. If convicted on all counts, each faces up to 75 years in prison and $1.5 million in fines.
