All three state education entities will seek to increase their portions of the budget pie during the 2008 legislative session.
For the current budget year, which began July 1, the education entities receive $3.07 billion or 62.3 percent of the total general fund.
Together the kindergarten through 12th grade schools, as well as the community colleges and institutions of higher learning, are asking for at least another $445 million in additional state general funds during the 2008 session, which starts Jan. 8.
