This year, Congress raised the wages of Mississippi’s lowest-paid workers, funneled millions of dollars to the state for hurricane reconstruction and approved dozens of projects that long have been on local government wish lists.
But bitter partisan fights and clashes with the White House limited the accomplishments of the first Democratic-led Congress in a dozen years.
Sen. Thad Cochran said “the Congress deserves low marks for its inability to work across party lines.”
