James “Jim” Roberts of Pontotoc said he sought out the vacant District 1 circuit judge post because he missed working full-time in the judiciary.
On Wednesday, Gov. Haley Barbour announced he was appointing Roberts to fill the circuit judge post left vacant when Sharion Aycock stepped down to accept an appointment as a federal judge. The unfinished term to which Roberts was appointed expires in January 2009.
“I am not an expert in anything, but I have experience in a lot of things,” said Roberts. “I think I can go to work quickly and carry my load in an increasingly busy judiciary … I look forward to doing that.”
