Scruggs Requests To Be Cleared For Takeoff
Also joining Keker in the Mississippi mission is a trio of young Keker & Van Nest legal beagles — Brook Dooley, Travis LeBlanc and Warren Braunig. They’re scheduled to make an appearance on Monday, according to Keker, who’s everywhere these days. (Yes, this is the same Keker who showed up in the Barry Bonds story (here) and who represented Bill Lerach (here).)
So does that mean Keker will be setting up shop in Oxford for the next several months? Not quite. Also filed today: a motion by Quin requesting that Scruggs be allowed to use his private jet to “travel to and from California, Mississippi and Alabama for purposes of preparing Scruggs’s defense.” According to the filing, prosecutors aren’t objecting to the request.
