Officials predict smooth sailing for election

By: Magnolia Tribune - November 5, 2007

The Clarion-Ledger, 11/5/7

Officials are predicting a smooth day at precincts across the state as voters head to the polls on Tuesday.

But some candidates won’t see their names on the ballot because of ongoing election disputes from the Democratic primary in August. A trial in one election challenge continued over the weekend and may go into Election Day.

In the August primary, glitches were found with the state’s new computerized voting machines. But a spokesman for Secretary of State Eric Clark said county leaders have provided more training for poll workers, and no serious problems are anticipated for the general election.
