M. L. “Binky” Vines continues to run for re-election despite a guilty plea on three counts of embezzlement.
Attorney General Jim Hood says his office recommended a three-year sentence for Vines in the state penitentiary. Hood even wrote a letter to defense attorneys saying they would not recommend the non-adjudicated order Judge Joe Webster was considering. Hood says Vines threw himself on the mercy of the court.
