In a bid for time to save the nomination of Mississippi Judge Leslie Southwick for a federal appeals court, a key Republican won a postponement Thursday of a scheduled Senate Judiciary Committee vote.
“It’s clear to me that Mr. Southwick would be rejected if a committee vote is called,” said Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, the highest-ranking Republican on the panel.
