Warr presents Gulfport progress reports

Crime is down, business is up and the city’s financial standing has never been better, according to two reports Wednesday from Mayor Brent Warr.

“We’re in the best financial condition that we’ve ever been in, actually better than we were the day before the storm,” Warr told business leaders, adding that the city’s income relies heavily on sales tax, which is nearly 40 percent higher than pre-Katrina levels.
