Barbour stakes claim to first ‘full funding’
Buddy Bynum, the governor’s director of communications, said in a recent e-mail that “even in 2003 MAEP was about $7 million short. Something to consider for future reporting. You can even say it (full funding for the first time) happened in the Barbour administration if you wish.”
The state Department of Education confirmed that in 2003, like 2007 an election year, MAEP was slightly more than $7 million short of full funding.
