Intense legal scrutiny tied to Jackson Mayor Frank Melton’s crime-fighting tactics arguably began a year ago in the front yard of the home of a reputed street gang leader’s family.
If convicted on all counts, Melton, whose battle cry has been to put away the bad guys, faces a potential prison term of up to 50 years. If convicted on any of the counts, he would by state law lose his office.
