Hunting deer over feed has divided the state’s hunters and – more importantly – the Legislature for years, but a bill awaiting Gov. Haley Barbour’s decision could settle the issue.
In November, MDWFP biologists had proposed a third state zone for deer hunting and a change in how legal bucks are measured to increase quality deer management. The key to the proposal, however, requires hunters to report their deer.
