DeKeither Stamps speaks at the Neshoba County Fair

By: Magnolia Tribune - August 1, 2019

DeKeither Stamps spoke to guests at the Neshoba County Fair on Wednesday about his decision to run for Central District Public Service Commissioner.

“In my family, service runs deep. Service actually means something,” said the Marine and Air Force veteran. He claimed service as his motivation to run. That, and the deep connection between PSC and the economy.

“Everyone from the outhouse to the big house needs utilities,” said Stamps.

If elected, Stamps said he is going to focus on making utilities more affordable to take the burden off the local government. He said he is also going to look at every way to make money and save money. State legislature cut the budget 30%, and Stamps says it probably because it wasn’t as efficient.

Stamps is endorsed by Mayor Flaggs in Vicksburg, but he’s rallying for more support from voters.

“I’m looking for Mississippians who believe in our state; who want to move the state forward. It’s time to move Mississippi forward from 49th and 50th.”

Stamps said he seems to be more “vested” because more personal money in the campaign as opposed to campaign dollars, giving him “more skin in the game.”
