YP – Certified 2020 General Election Results Available on SoS Website
Certified results from the 2020 General Election are now available on the Secretary of State’s website. Data from the Statewide Election Management System (SEMS) showed a total of 1,313,759 legal votes cast for President of the United States, which is roughly eight percent (8%) higher than the 1,209,357 legal votes cast in the 2016 presidential election. Mississippi saw a tremendous increase in absentee voting as well. SEMS reported a total of 239,487 absentee ballots received, which is more than twice the amount of absentee ballots received in 2016 (102,915).

YP – Aberdeen Police on pending enforcement of COVID restrictions: Don’t call us, the Mayor or council. They can’t help you.
The City of Aberdeen’s Police Department has taken it upon themselves to actively, and some may say aggressively, enforce COVID-19 restrictions within its city limits.
The following message was placed on the Department’s Facebook page Wednesday…
…As far as Christmas parties, pop-up shops, card games, any social gatherings that exceed 10 people, we will be writing the tickets. We ask that you follow the mandate.
Aberdeen Police Department will also start collecting fines that are due. We will expect 100% of the fine so this will not come as a surprise. Do NOT call my phone when they get you or someone you think that can help you. We will start serving warrants December 14, 2020.
Don’t call the Mayor or city councilman/ ladies, they can’t help you. We just want a safe and productive city. We appreciate everything you all can do to help us on this matter.

YP – Wicker, Fellow Legislators Urge Congressional Leadership to Support RESTAURANTS Act
U.S. Senators Roger Wicker, R-Miss., and Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., and Representatives Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., and Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., today led a letter to Congressional leaders urging them to include a $120 billion revitalization fund for small and independent restaurants in any future COVID-19 relief package or year-end spending bill. The proposal, which has earned the support of 50 senators and passed the U.S. House in October, was introduced in June as the RESTAURANTS Act of 2020.
In their letter, the legislators cited a wave of new restrictions on restaurants as coronavirus cases surge across the nation.

YP – President Trump to Receive Bill to Name Brookhaven Post Office for Fallen Officers
The United States Senate has passed legislation introduced by U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) and Congressman Michael Guest (R-Miss.) to name a Brookhaven post office in honor of three local law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The legislation, which U.S. Senator Roger Wicker cosponsored, was approved by unanimous consent late Thursday, clearing it for President Trump’s signature. The bill, passed by the House of Representatives on Sept. 14, 2020, designates the U.S. Postal Service facility at 201 West Cherokee Street, Brookhaven, as the “Deputy Donald William Durr, Corporal Zach Moak, and Patrolman James White Memorial Post Office Building.”
WTOK – Gov. Reeves: ‘It’s a constant battle to try to figure out what is the right thing to do’
We sat down to talk with Governor Tate Reeves to talk about the state’s current status with COVID-19 and three straight days of more than 2,000 cases.
“I go to bed every night wondering what the number’s going to be,” said Reeves. “I wake up every morning wondering what the number’s going to be.”
Reeves has faced criticism for not taking more steps to stem the spread of the coronavirus. He’s repeatedly said he doesn’t believe any one thing is the answer or silver bullet. So, we asked: Is there a combination of things that we aren’t doing that we could?
“I don’t think that there is any combination of things that reduces the spread of the virus to a level that most of us would consider as acceptable,” added Reeves. “The fact is we’ve got a try to get the vast majority of people to participate in the things that we know that works.”
