#GASen: Loeffler, Warnock debate as Senate special election runoff nears

By: Frank Corder - December 7, 2020

Republican U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler and her Democrat opponent Raphael Warnock participated in a debate over the weekend as the Georgia special election runoff nears.

Loeffler was appointed to fill the seat by Governor Brian Kemp in December 2019 when Senator Johnny Isakson resigned for health reasons.

Warnock is the pastor of Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church.

This race and the other Georgia Senate seat are both on the ballot come January 5, 2021, making Georgia the center of the U.S. political world given the implications.  Democrats need to win both seats to gain the majority in the U.S. Senate.
