People of all ages rallying outside of the capitol calling to “stop the steal” of the presidential election.
Speakers taking turns to talk about their concerns over what they claim are illegal votes and cheating after former Vice President Joe Biden is declared the winner of the 2020 presidential election.
Republican Brian Flowers agrees; he ran for the U.S. House to represent Mississippi’s 2nd Congressional District and lost to Bennie Thompson.
“We’re out here today to make sure that we voice our concerns to our state elected officials and our federal elected officials, so they can take that back to Washington and they can push from and let them know that we are the people and that we are wanting a fair and balanced election,” said Flowers.

WLBT – State lawmakers weigh in on Joe Biden being declared president
When District 69 State representative Alyce Clarke found out president-elect Joe Biden was projected to be the next Commander in Chief, she said it was an answer to her prayers.
“A number of us had been praying for years asking God with this presidential election to let his will be done, and to me that is God’s will that that is who he wanted,” said Clarke
However, for District 42 Senator Chris McDaniel, the announcement was disappointing.
“It’s hard to be a conservative and be happy about President Biden,” said McDaniel.
The senator said he stands with President Donald Trump, and wants to see an investigation launched to look into the way the ballots were handled before he accepts the outcome.
WJTV – Local lawmakers react to Joe Biden becoming elected president
We spoke with District 83 Representative Billy Adam Calvert who said he wasn’t shocked when heard the news.
“I wasn’t surprised. I’ve been looking at the results on TV for the last few days. Counting the votes was all I was seeing. The country could see it lending towards Joe Biden’s way. We weren’t surprised. We are thankful for the historic voter turnout,” said District 83 Representative Billy Adam Calvert.
District 82 Representative Charles Young Jr. said the results will be challenged.
“I think it will be the most contested election in the history of the country. The United States of America has a deep divide. It’s time for the country to start healing,” said District 82 Representative Charles Young Jr.
Calvert said that he expects Trump to fight back.
Waiting for Eta to decide where it’s going
Tropical Storm Eta is expected to return to Hurricane strength by Tuesday. It is currently situated west of the Florida Keys with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph. The forecast track takes the center of Eta gradually away from the Florida Keys and south Florida today, and then will remain over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico tonight through Wednesday.

YP – MSDH preparing for medical marijuana program implementation
The Mississippi State Department of Health announced on Facebook that they have begun the preliminary stages of implementing a medical marijuana program in the state, as issued in Initiative 65…
…According to the post, MSDH has been researching the project over the last several months.
“Regulations for all aspects of the program, including production and licensing for sale, must be in place by July 1, 2021,” MSDH said. “As we make progress we will keep the public fully informed, and ask for your patience as we develop the necessary plans to go forward late next summer.”
