Mississippi Ballot Set – What You’ll See When You Go Vote in November

By: Frank Corder - September 9, 2020

Mississippi State Board of Election Commissioners met Tuesday morning to certify the November General Election ballot. Governor Tate Reeves, Secretary of State Michael Watson and Attorney General Lynn Fitch serve as the state’s Election Commissioners.

Reeves, Watson, and a representative for Fitch vetted the qualifications of the candidates to ensure all met the legal requirements to be on the ballot.

Secretary Watson tweeted an “Election Check In” message following the meeting, giving Mississippians a look at the finalized ballot.

Voters will case their vote for President of the United States, Congress, U.S. Senate, Mississippi Supreme Court and Circuit Court Judge.  Two other ballot items will also be decided – Medical Marijuana and the Mississippi State Flag.

Of note, President Donald Trump will face off against Democrat nominee Joe Biden, as well as 7 other presidential candidates, including rapper Kanye West.

U.S. Senate Cindy Hyde-Smith will once again be challenged by Democrat nominee Mike Espy. Libertarian Jimmy Edwards is also running for the seat.

Incumbent Congressmen Trent Kelly (R), Bennie Thompson (D), and Michael Guest (R) all have General Election opponents. Congressman Steven Palazzo is unopposed.

Two state Supreme Court seats have opposition, while two others are unopposed.
