YP Special Elections Series: De’Keither Stamps for MS House District 66

By: Sarah Ulmer - August 31, 2020

After the resignation of Jarvis Dortch from House District 66, the seat became vacant and available for election. One of the candidates running to fill the spot is De’Keither Stamps, a current Jackson City Councilman. The district serves portions of Hinds County.

Stamps attended school within the Jackson Public School system until he joined the Marines. He went on to spend three years on the Presidential Security for President Clinton and another three years working for the State Department in Africa, Switzerland and the United kingdom.

He decided to re-enlist in the Army in 2005 and later served three years with the 82nd Airborne Division on back to back deployments.

The election for House District 66 will take place on September 22.
