Mississippi Realtors say current flag serves as an “unnecessary hindrance”

By: Magnolia Tribune - June 24, 2020

As property professionals and community champions, the Mississippi REALTORS®, the largest trade association in the state, believe revitalization, opportunity, and a healthy economy are crucial to improving the quality of life for all Mississippians.  REALTORS® commit to foster an environment of diversity, inclusion, and the free exchange of ideas in order to improve our great state. A critical step to foster a welcoming, inclusive and fair environment to all is the retirement of our current state flag. The foundation of our Mississippi communities must be built on shared respect and a commitment to improve the quality of life for all Mississippians.

The impact and role of a REALTOR® extends far beyond facilitating the free exchange of property, and REALTORS® are called to action when communities are prevented from sustaining healthy growth and attracting new economic activity.  For too long, Mississippi has been faced with challenges to economic advancement and the Mississippi REALTORS® commit to take an active role in refocusing attention to the many bright spots we know exist in our state.

The current Mississippi flag serves as an unnecessary hindrance to progress and growth, and the Mississippi REALTORS® support swift legislative action to retire the current flag and replace it with a flag that reflects the enduring and remarkable qualities that make Mississippi a wonderful state to call home.
