WLOX – Trump planning November visit to Tupelo to campaign for Reeves
It appears President Trump will make another visit to Mississippi.
Police Chief Bart Aguirre said there have been discussions about the president visiting Tupelo on the Friday before the November 5 general election.
That visit would be on behalf of Republican gubernatorial candidate Tate Reeves, whom Trump has endorsed.
There has been no official word yet from the White House or from the Reeves campaign that the visit will happen.

WTOK – National Democrats back A.G. nominee in Mississippi
A national group says it’s putting time and money into supporting the Democratic nominee in the open race for Mississippi attorney general.
The Democratic Attorneys General Association said Thursday that it aims to have people knock on 180,000 doors to promote Jennifer Riley Collins. She faces Republican Lynn Fitch in the Nov. 5 election.
The current attorney general, Jim Hood, is Mississippi’s only Democratic statewide official, and he’s the party’s nominee for governor.

WDAM – More than 1.9 million Mississippians registered to vote ahead of election
“They are the only ones that matter,” said Dr. Joe Weinberg, associate professor of political science at the University of Southern Mississippi.
As the general election approaches, there are currently more than 1.9 million registered voters in Mississippi, according to the Secretary of State’s office.
“Mississippi actually has a higher percentage of registered voters,” Weinberg said. “That’s a percentage of the eligible voters than the national average. I think part of that is because we’ve made it pretty easy to register to vote when you get your license.”
Weinberg said Pine Belt voters will have a big influence on the statewide election.
