The Daily Journal is reporting that President Donald Trump will be in Tupelo on November 1 to appear for Republican Lt. Governor Tate Reeves. Final details of the stop have not yet been announced.
The decision to appear in Tupelo is no doubt a strategic one as that is the backyard of Reeves’s opponent, Democrat Jim Hood, who hails from Houston, MS.
The appearance is scheduled just four days before the election.
In Louisiana on Friday, the day before the Saturday statewide primary, Trump visited Lake Charles and according to reports, he substantially moved the race in the direction of Republicans.
Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016 in Mississippi 57.1% to 40.1%. In Jim Hood’s home county of Chickasaw, Trump bested Clinton 52% to 46%.
