This bill has recieved praise from Governor Bryant himself. Entitled the Israel Support Act of 2019 would require the Department of Finance and Administration to compile a list of companies that boycott Israel.

HB 761, authored by Rep. Donnie Bell, would also prohibit the Public Employees Retirement System and State Treasurer from investing in those companies. The bill passed the House  on Wednesday the 13th.

The bill reads:

SECTION 3. Duties of the Executive Director of the Department of Finance and Administration. (1) (a) Before December 31, 2019, the Executive Director of the Department of Finance and Administration shall develop or contract to develop, using credible information available to the public, a list of companies determined to engage in a boycott of Israel, as described in this section. When completed, the list must be posted on the website of the Department of Finance and Administration.

The list would be updated by July 1 of each year and notice must be given the each company, 90 days before their name is put on the list.

The bill now heads to the Senate.
