Wicker Receives Recognition for Military Service

By: Sarah Ulmer - November 15, 2018

Department of Veterans Affairs Celebrates Contributions of Congressional Veterans

U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today met with Jon Rychalski, the chief financial officer of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Rychalski presented Wicker with a lapel pin recognizing the Senator’s military service.

“Our nation’s military men and women are especially important to me,” Wicker said. “I thank VA Secretary Robert Wilkie and Mr. Rychalski for their efforts to recognize veterans, and I look forward to working with them to continue improving services at the VA.”

Wicker served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force between 1976 and 1980 before joining the Air Force Reserve. He retired from the Reserve in 2004 with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

Today’s pinning ceremony is part of an effort by the Department of Veterans Affairs to recognize all congressional members and staff who have served in our nation’s military.
