Today, Governor Phil Bryant announced that a special legislative session will convene next Thursday, August 23.
Though the official “call” that will govern the content of the session has not yet been released, Governor Bryant has indicated that infrastructure repair and the allocation of BP money will be on the agenda.
I will call a special session of the Mississippi Legislature to be held on August 23. It will address infrastructure repair and maintenance and a plan to allocate BP money that prioritizes our Gulf Coast’s economy.

What is not clear at this point is whether the call of the session will be broad enough to allow the creation of a state lottery or other new funding mechanisms to be available as remedies for the infrastructure.
