Mississippi State Senate President Pro Tempore Terry Burton (R-Newton) and State Senator Rita Parks (R-Corinth) have endorsed Senator Sally Doty to replace retiring U.S. Representative Gregg Harper in Mississippi’s 3rdDistrict Congressional seat.
“Sally Doty’s accomplished record in the Mississippi Senate make her the logical choice in this race,” Senate Pro Tempore Burton said. “She’s the most qualified and the most prepared to lead Mississippi’s 3rdCongressional District. In Washington she’ll able to hit the ground running to achieve immediate results for the people of Mississippi.”
Senator Doty is a two-term State Senator from Brookhaven. During her tenure in the Mississippi Senate, Senator Doty has made, managed and moved historic legislation that has tightened Mississippi’s campaign finance laws, helped reduce teen pregnancy, curb domestic violence and supported Mississippi’s agriculture and timber industries.
In the State Senate, Senator Doty has earned an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association (NRA), an “A” Rating from the pro-business Business and Industry Political Education Committee (BIPEC) and a 100 percent pro-life voting record. Her signature campaign finance reform legislation, which took effect this year, now prohibits Mississippi political candidates from using political donations for personal use.
“I’ve always known Sally to be a conservative fighter who gets results,” Senator Parks said. “During her time in Jackson, she has voted to protect the unborn, protect our Second Amendment rights and cut taxes. We need a conservative fighter in Washington, and the best choice is Sally Doty.”
A native of Kosciusko and a long-time resident of Brookhaven, in the Mississippi Senate, Senator Doty represents portions of Copiah, Lawrence, Lincoln and Walthall counties.
“It’s truly a great honor to have the endorsement of these two very esteemed and very accomplished Mississippi Senate colleagues,” Senator Doty said. “Together we’ve passed significant legislation that has changed Mississippi for the better, and I look forward to putting my legislative experience to work for Mississippians in Washington.”
The Mississippi 3rdCongressional District Republican Primary is June 5th.
