Miss. Senator Votes to Improve Health-Care Options for Nation’s Veterans
U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today voted for S. 2372, the “John S. McCain III, Daniel K. Akaka, and Samuel R. Johnson VA Maintaining Internal Systems and Strengthening Integrated Outside Networks (MISSION) Act.”
“The men and women in uniform who have fought for our nation deserve a quality health-care system that meets their needs without excessive wait times,” Wicker said. “Passage of this bill provides needed reforms to expand access to care for all veterans by cutting red tape and removing restrictions on telemedicine and private care.”
The legislation includes significant reforms to improve health-care delivery systems at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) by streamlining VA’s Community Care Programs, removing interstate barriers for VA professionals to practice telemedicine, and expanding eligibility for VA’s Caregiver Program to veterans of all generations.
The VA MISSION Act is supported by 38 veterans and military advocacy organizations. The House of Representatives passed the bill last week,and President Trump is now expected to sign it into law.
