- According to the Department of Labor, Mississippi hit an all time low record on unemployment rates at 4.6% in January. However, not many Mississippians ever found out about it even though numbers were released on Monday.
Gov. Bryant even resorted to posting an article written by the Seattle Times on the issue:
That 4.6% is down from 4.8% in December. This time last year Mississippi was reporting unemployment at 5.4%. Mississippi’s unemployment numbers fell about 3,000 to 58,000.
The national unemployment rate was at 4.1%, putting Mississippi just slightly over the average.
