Oh Boy!
A year after pleading guilty to not paying his taxes, Rep. Bennie Thompson’s chief of staff is being hit with more charges: lying on security clearance forms. The Washington Post reported that the Justice Department charged that Isaac Lanier Avant, Democratic staff director for the Homeland Security Committee, “willfully made a false statement” on 2008 and 2013 security clearance forms. Thompson is free to choose his own chief of staff but we question why Avant still has the job after a second charge.
