#HB1523 challenge could be headed to SCOTUS

By: Magnolia Tribune - October 3, 2017

Opponents of House Bill 1523 appealing to U.S. Supreme Court

Opponents of Mississippi House Bill 1523, the so-called religious objection bill, will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court a lower court’s decision that allows the law to take effect.

On Friday, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied a request for the full court to rehear a ruling by a three-judge panel of the court to allow the law that had been blocked by U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves from going into effect on July 1.

The law now could take effect Friday.
