Canton Mayor defeated in run-off election
After a long night of verifying and counting ballots, Doctor William Truly has unseated current Mayor Arnel Bolden by getting 55% of the votes in the Runoff Election, taking the Democratic Nomination for the Canton Mayor position.
Final numbers didn’t come down until after midnight, since it took poll workers at ward one hours to count and verify one hundred and forty-four absentee ballots.
One voter says his mom, who sent an absentee ballot earlier this month, was called in to verify her vote after poll workers found someone had also come in to vote in her name.
