Advocate for mentally ill says budget cut in retaliation
A mental health advocate for children is questioning whether the Mississippi Department of Mental Health’s plan to slash her program’s annual funding by 85 percent is retaliation.
Under the plan, the budget would go from $240,000 to $35,000.
Families as Allies Executive Director Joy Hogge said she was told April 27 by a Department of Mental Health official of the funding cut slated to begin July 1, the beginning of the state’s new fiscal year.
