Supervisors send certified letter to Rep. william shirley

The Board of supervisors recently issued a certified letter via the U.S. Postal Service to Representative William Shirley on April 24th requesting his assistance regarding the Multi County Services. Below is a copy of the letter sent to Representative Shirley, dated April 24th.

Dear Representative Shirley:

We are reaching out to you once again to urge you not to oppose legislation to allow Clarke County to contribute to Multi County Community Services, as we and other counties have done for years. We understand Senator Carmichael’s bill died in the House after you requested the Local and Private Committee chair not to bring the bill out of committee for a floor vote.

By now you should have heard from numerous constituents, as have we, regarding the immense value Multi – County brings to all Clarke contains. As the sole State Representative calling Clarke County home, you are the only person who must lead us to a solution.

We respectfully request that you make known publicly that you will not block a House vote on a new bill. If the L & P chair hears no further objection from you, we believe he will allow the House to vote. …

….County Board members stated Rep. Shirley blocked the bill in Local and Private committee, therefore Clarke was the only county that did not get approved.
