Wicker Comments on Dismissal of FBI Director
Miss. Senator Says Comey Replacement Should Be a ‘Neil Gorsuch Type’ With Impeccable Credentials
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today appeared on Fox Business to discuss President Trump’s dismissal of FBI Director James Comey.
Key excerpts of Wicker’s interview include:
“I think he has been controversial over time…this has come from Democrats and Republicans. He has sort of been theatrical. I think he’s taken positions that were not within the purview of the FBI Director, more appropriate for the attorney general. There were many reasons why people on both sides of the aisle had doubts about the temperament of Jim Comey for this position.”
“I think we need a Neil Gorsuch type of individual for the President to bring forward as the new FBI Director – somebody of sterling character, impeccable credentials, and experience. I think once that person gets in place, and the investigation goes forward as it should go, I think this hysteria will calm down and we’ll move on to other substantive issues.”
