Harper: GOP must pass health care bill
Mississippi Rep. Gregg Harper had hoped he and his Republican colleagues could return to their districts this week and tout efforts to start the repeal of the federal health care law.
They can. The House voted 217 to 213 along party lines Thursday to pass a GOP bill to overhaul most of the 2010 Affordable Care Act.
“We have an obligation to repeal and replace Obamacare,” Harper said in an interview with USA TODAY Network Wednesday. “We’ve all campaigned on it … We’ve worked on it since we got the majority in 2011. We need to deliver.”…
…Mississippi’s other Republican House members — Reps. Steven Palazzo and Trent Kelly — also voted in favor of the GOP health care legislation. Rep. Bennie Thompson, the lone Democrat in the delegation, voted against it.
