Biloxi seeks $600,000 from state

By: Magnolia Tribune - May 8, 2017

Biloxi says state owes the city $606,350

Biloxi has asked a chancery judge to make the state pay the city the more than $600,000 it says it is owed.

The city wants the Point Cadet settlement agreement enforced that requires the state to provide Biloxi its share of revenue from leases in the Point Cadet development in Biloxi where the Golden Nugget Casino is located.

Last year when the state swept special fund money into the general fund, it took the almost $1.6 million that was supposed to go into the Point Cadet Leasing Fund. Under the settlement agreement, Biloxi’s share of the approximately $1.6 million was $606,350. The Institutions of Higher Learning was supposed to receive $493,810, and the Public Trust Tidelands Fund administered by the secretary of state’s office was supposed to also receive $493,810.
