MSGOP MUNICIPAL CANDIDATE SPOTLIGHT
The Mississippi Republican Party has fielded candidates in more municipalities than ever before this election season, and we are proud to spotlight a few of these rising stars in the weeks ahead.

Our first Republican municipal Candidate in the Spotlight this week is Willie Jackson, Alderman-at-Large for the City of Philadelphia.
Mr. Jackson is a graduate of Philadelphia High School and Mississippi State University. He is the former manager of the Neshoba County Gin Association and the co-owner and manager of Northside Storage, LLC.
Mr. Jackson and his wife have been married for 35 years and have three children and three grandchildren.
It was his life-long commitment to his community, his civic engagement through various organizations, and his faith that led Mr. Jackson to run for office in 2013.
“I love this community and the people who live here,” Mr. Jackson said. “Philadelphia has provided me with many blessings through the years. I cherish the opportunity I have had for the past four years, and hope to continue to have, in giving back to this community through service as Alderman-at-Large.”
When reelected, Mr. Jackson plans to continue to work with his colleagues to ensure that Philadelphia lives within its means and maintains and improves city infrastructure, with the overall goal being to improve the quality of life of all citizens.
Mr. Jackson knows that being a Republican municipal official serves his constituents well.
“I believe it is important to be a Republican,” Mr Jackson noted, “because it provides opportunity (working with others) to be a positive force in our community, state, and country.”

Our second Republican municipal Candidate in the Spotlight this week is Alex Monsour, candidate for South Ward Alderman in Vicksburg.
Mr. Monsour has been the House District 54 State Representative since 2008. He currently chairs the House Ports, Harbors, and Airports Committee and is a member of the Appropriations, Constitution, Gaming, Insurance, Judiciary B, Judiciary En Banc, Tourism, and Transportation Committees as well.
As a realtor and an active member of the Vicksburg and Warren County community, Mr. Monsour has served on many local boards including the Warren County Chamber of Commerce, the Vicksburg Girls Softball Association, and the Warren County Republican Executive Committee.
“As a Republican candidate for Alderman for the City of Vicksburg,” Mr. Monsour said, “I think it is important that we as local elected officials understand that we need to create an environment that is friendly to business as well as improve the quality of life for all taxpayers.”
Mr. Monsour wants to put his legislative experience to work for his community, help move economic development forward, address infrastructure needs, and focus on Vicksburg’s public safety for the benefit of all citizens.
“I feel I can come back home and make an immediate positive impact with my knowledge and access to the Capitol to make Vicksburg what it should be at a faster pace,” Mr. Monsour said.
