Sen. Cochran appointed to Eisenhower Memorial Commission
Senator Thad Cochran was appointed to serve on the Eisenhower Memorial Commission (EMC) by Senator Pat Roberts, Chairman of the EMC.
The commission was created in Public Law 106-79 back in 1991 with a goal of creating a memorial in Washington D.C. to honor Dwight D. Eisenhower for his service to the nation. Eisenhower served as President of the United States and a military leader.
Now, the EMC consists of a bipartisan group of twelve commissioners. There are four from the U.S. House of Representatives and four from the United States Senate; also four citizen commissioners appointed by the President.
Sen. Cochran was appointed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
