Meridian mayor responds to Markham’s announcement

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – Meridian Mayor Percy Bland has released a statement about a city councilman’s plans to run against him.

Ward 2 Councilman Dustin Markham announced he would be running for mayor Sunday to a crowd at First Union Missionary Baptist Church during a Martin Luther King Jr. service.

Mayor Bland’s statement is “it’s a democracy, and I look forward to meeting Councilman Markham in the first Democratic primary on the first Tuesday of May.”
