AG: Hinds DA now twice accused of bribery
FBI testimony suggesting Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith took bribes shines a different light on the criminal case against him, which doesn’t include bribery charges.
Robert “Too Sweet” Henderson, indicted on charges of conspiring to commit bribery in August, told FBI agents that Smith received money used to bribe officials in exchange for lowering the bonds of criminal defendants. Smith hired Henderson, previously convicted of drug possession and receiving stolen goods, to pass out yard signs during his 2015 campaign for office and paid him $1,800.
