RELEASE:

Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office Earns National GovDelivery Recognition

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann’s efforts to move to a paperless online operation have not gone unnoticed. GovDelivery, a provider of cloud-based software solutions aimed at enhancing citizen engagement, has named the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office one of its 2016 Digital Strategy & Impact Award winners.

Recipients of the award, according to GovDelivery, demonstrate effective and innovative digital strategy and excellence in key areas of promoting services, enhancing awareness, and improving citizen involvement. The Mississippi Secretary of State’s recognition relates specifically to efforts to make its services available to the public online, digitize public records, and encourage digital, rather than paper, filings.

In 2015, the Secretary of State’s web site saw more than 10.4 million hits, up from about 2 million hits in 2008. This year, the web site is on track to see about 12 million hits.

Some of the Agency’s most frequently visited sites include its online business filing system, where businesses can file their annual report and other information online, and online tax-forfeited property search and application for purchase.

“One of my top goals is to make the important services offered by the Secretary of State’s Office easily accessible to all citizens,” Secretary Hosemann said. “One way to do this efficiently is by increasing our online presence.”
