Questions for @realDonaldTrump and @HillaryClinton heading into #ElectionDay

By: Magnolia Tribune - October 31, 2016

Over 31 million votes were cast in the Republican Presidential Primaries across the nation.

Of those, Donald Trump received over 14 million or 45% of the popular vote.

This means 55% of Republicans picked someone other than Donald Trump.

Donald Trump won a majority in 16 states:

California, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Maryland, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Washington, and West Virginia.

Donald Trump won a plurality, or the number of votes cast for a candidate who receives more than any other but does not receive an absolute majority, in 20 states:

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, and Virginia.

Depending on the analyst, there could be 15 Swing or Battleground States that will deliver 193 Electoral College votes of the necessary 270 to win.

How did Donald Trump perform in the Republican Primaries in these Swing States?

Arizona – 33%
Colorado – 0 (convention)
Florida – 46%
Georgia – 39%
Iowa – 24%
Michigan – 37%
Minnesota – 21%
Missouri – 41%
Nevada – 46%
New Hampshire – 35%
North Carolina – 40%
Ohio – 36%
Pennsylvania – 57%
Virginia – 35%
Wisconsin – 35%

Donald Trump won a majority in just 1 of the 15 Swing States in the Republican Primaries.

Here’s how Hillary Clinton performed in the Democrat Primaries in these Swing States:

Arizona – 58%
Colorado – 40%
Florida – 64%
Georgia – 71%
Iowa – 50%
Michigan – 48%
Minnesota – 38%
Missouri – 50%
Nevada – 53%
New Hampshire – 38%
North Carolina – 55%
Ohio – 57%
Pennsylvania – 56%
Virginia – 64%
Wisconsin – 43%

Hillary Clinton won a majority in 8 of the 15 Swing States in the Democrat Primaries.

Of the over 30 million votes cast in the Democratic Primary, nearly 17 million went to Hillary Clinton.

So the questions to be answered November 8 are:

Has Donald Trump done enough to solidify the Republican voters in these states?

Has Donald Trump reached out beyond the base to gain the vote of independents/undecided voters in these states?

and…

How will Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton perform amid the ongoing scandals?
