DAILY JOURNAL – OUR OPINION: Chaney makes a timely health care intervention

Leaders at both NMHS and United Healthcare have said they want to see the issue resolved.

If Chaney and his staff feel there has not been significant progress, they could take further action, which could include direct payment adjustments, depending on findings.

Fines and other penalties could also be imposed, Chaney said.

A fair voluntary settlement would be better for all parties, including the customers.

Health care and health insurance are among the nation’s most sensitive issues, one that seem far away until it becomes close-at-hand and of pressing importance.

We hope Chaney’s intervention leads to a settlement before deadlines kick in.
