MDOT closes headquarters before ‘police brutality’ march
The Mississippi Department of Transportation office in downtown Jackson closed about 3 p.m. on Friday, a precautionary measure because of an anti-police brutality march scheduled in the area at 4 p.m., Central District Transportation Commissioner Dick Hall said.
“Frankly, I can’t believe they would still be having this march in light of what happened in Dallas,” Hall said, referring to the shooting of 12 police officers, killing five, at a Black Lives Matter rally in Dallas. “We decided to do this, let our employees leave early, as a precautionary measure.”
