Rep. Anderson (D) asks for opinion on legislators having staff while visiting Canadian “providences”

By: Magnolia Tribune - June 15, 2016

State Rep. Jeramy Anderson (D) wants to know if you think the Mississippi Legislature would be more efficient if legislators had staff. That’s the question he posed on Twitter on Tuesday as he jets around the world.

He was quick to point out that his “staff,” which has been the butt of more than a few jokes among his House colleagues, is made up of volunteers.

This same “staff” issued a statement on Anderson’s Instagram regarding his jetting off to five Canadian “providences” for a week:

REPRESENTATIVE ANDERSON HEADS TO CANADA MOSS POINT, Miss – Representative Jeramey Anderson will head to Canada next week to take part in a weeklong tour of the country. Representative Anderson will join seven other State lawmakers from across the country to meet with political counterparts, business leaders, and cultural representatives, fostering firsthand knowledge of a deep and diverse nature of Canada-U.S. relations. “The Representative will have his week cut out for him as he will hit 5 providences during the course of his weeklong tour of Canada. Although the Representative will spend most of his time in the air traveling from providence to providence, he is very excited to visit the country and plans to enjoy the down time by sightseeing when available. During the Representative’s visit to Europe less than three weeks ago he and Canadian Parliament member Pierre-Luc Dusseault had the opportunity to connect which he plans to reconnect with him when he arrives in the country. Dusseault is the youngest member of the Canadian Parliament” said Press Secretary Ja’Leasa Walden. The Representative will depart from the United States Sunday, June 12th and will return June 18th. ### _____________________
