Republicans aim to raise $62 million in bid to retain control of Senate
The committee responsible for helping Republicans win election to the Senate is working to raise $62 million this year and plans to invest heavily in Ohio and a handful of other states that will decide whether the party retains control of the chamber, according to the organization’s chairman.
“I can’t imagine the Democrats winning the majority in the U.S. Senate without winning Ohio,” said Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. In that race, former Democratic governor Ted Strickland is challenging Republican incumbent Rob Portman.
“We will do everything we possibly can to help Sen. Portman,” Wicker said.
