High court candidate addresses Tupelo civic club
As Jimmy Maxwell makes it around the north half of the state, the Supreme Court Justice is blending campaigning with educating.
Maxwell, who was appointed to the state’s highest court in December, gave the Tupelo Rotary Club a brief explanation of Mississippi’s court systems, from justice court all the way up through the Mississippi Supreme Court.
“Why is it important to have a fundamental understanding of the judicial system?” Maxwell said. “You never know when you are going to need that or you could be thrown into the middle of a system where the rules aren’t exactly clear.
